The RSUQ chair attends the EMI/PMC 2024 conference
From May 28-31, Anderson Pires and Styfen Schär, along with former visiting students Miriam Dodt and Alessio Faraci, attended the EMI/PMC conference in Chicago.
The Engineering Mechanics Institute Conference and Probabilistic Mechanics & Reliability Conference, organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), was held in Chicago this year. This conference serves as a premier platform for scholars and practitioners to explore the latest advancements in engineering mechanics and probabilistic methods.
During the mini-symposium on "Reliability Analysis and Rare Event Probability Estimation", Anderson presented his ongoing research titled "Noise-Aware Stopping Criteria for Active Learning Reliability with Noisy Limit-States."
In another mini-symposium, "Computational Statistics for Natural Hazards Engineering: Advances in Uncertainty Quantification, Surrogate Modeling, and Dimension Reduction for Performance-Based Design of Structures and Systems", Styfen shared his latest findings on "Seismic Fragility Analysis Using MNARX Modeling".
Additionally, Miriam and Alessio, in collaboration with our chair, showcased their work on "Multi-Fidelity Modelling for Digital Twins of Fast Manufacturing Processes Under Uncertainty" and "An Iso-Cost-Region Enrichment Strategy for Cost-Free Reliability-Based Design Optimization", respectively.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity for our researchers to disseminate their work and engage with peers in their field.
