GREYDIENT first ITN meeting
The first network-wide event of GREYDIENT happened on November 8-10 in Belgium. Our PhD students Anderson and Katerina were there!
The first network-wide event (NWE) of GREYDIENT took place on November 9-10 in Mechelen (Belgium). GREYDIENT is an Innovative Training Network, part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, which aims to support the ongoing transition of European personal mobility towards safe and reliable intelligent systems via the recently introduced framework of grey-box modelling. Grey-box models aim to optimally combine white and black box models in a way to exceed the performance of either framework separately. More about the project can be found external page here.
Due to the current coronavirus situation, this first NWE happened in a hybrid manner. Namely, it was held at KU Leuven - Campus de Nayer, located in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Belgium, but all the trainings and presentations were also live-streamed on zoom, so everyone who was not able to attend in person could participate.
During the first NWE, the early-stage researchers (ESRs) involved in the project had the opportunity to present themselves to the group, get to know each other, learn more about the broad project and get a better understanding of their roles in it. Both Katerina and Anderson had the chance to present their background and speak about their role in the project related to developing the grey-box methodology.
The NWE also counted several technical panels and soft skills trainings, with emphasis on promoting gender balance and equality in science. We are sure that all the participants had very positive impressions of the project and the network.
We, from ETH Zürich, look forward to hosting the second NEW in April next year!
